| A BASINGSTOKE comedi-enne with a reputation for raunchy rhymes is hoping the new year
will bring her success both on stage and in print.
Jan Jack, of Camford Close, Basingstoke, has planned a string of comedy shows in London and is on the lookout for a publisher ~ her book Paperclips and Petulance. The book is a humorous, semi-autobiographical account of the pains of growing up in the 1970s. Mrs Jack said: “I originally wrote it for my own amusement, but the feedback from readers was so positive that i would like to find a publisher.” She writes and performs comic verse and will be appearing at the Laughing Horse, in Richmond, on Sunday and the Kings Read, in Crouch End, on January 18. Mrs Jack, who is also a secretary, has developed a char-acter called Nessie an outspoken sixty-something nymphomaniac. She said: “Most of my material is in the form of verse, because you can get more humour out of being just a little suggestive in rhyme. “You let the audience fill in the gaps and build pictures in their minds, which is most always more naughty than any words you can use." Mrs Jack. also writes bespoke poems for social occasions, such as children’s birthdays and weddings.
